Ian Mosher, a/k/a "Skittles", getting it done at the CrossFit Games, and proving that he does own more than one shirt. Tommy Conroy cheers him on.
Workout of the Day
Run or row 10 K, make up a missed workout, or come in and let us surprise you.
Here's a nice article by a garage CrossFitter on the benefits of working out at an affiliate gym, "Worth It." Or, quoting the CrossFit Affiliate blog, "CrossFit is like sex: you might be able to get the same pleasure alone but, usually, it's better with someone else. "

Having just run the Peachtree last friday and not having any desire to do another 10k at the moment, I'm greatly anticipating this "surprise". 5 o'clock can't come soon enough.

Julie, how is your wrist doing? you might have to get one of the Steven Colbert Wrist Strong bracelets to help ease your pain.

Good article, and good points.
The only thing that I was upset about is hearing about affiliates like Crossfit Albany where they don't follow HQ and the coach over there makes up his own workouts. I find it hard to believe someone knows better than the Glassmans on what the workouts should be day to day to make you a better athlete.
Why make up your own workouts if you are a Crossfit gym?

The 'template' for the workouts has been published, so gym owners who create their own workouts arn't doing so blindly.
I could see Gyms integrating rope climbs, tire flips, sled pulls, and a few other exercises that Glassman may not want to include for reasons of availability or difficulty.
When I train people out of my Condo, I make them run stairs, and I find it to be the single hardest exercise I know.
But I do agree with you that most people ignore the mothership to their own detriment.

i brought up the point when i first started after seeing some of the inane "lets see how much crap i can cram in a wod" wods.if you pay attention there is a carefully crafted progression built in.besides every time i make up a wod the box knows and punishes me the next workout.....it knows...it knows

I did Nancy and copied Jody, with 20KG OH squats. 22:09. I was lucky that it rained and was not sunny so the run was not as horrible.
