CrossFit is, quite simply, a sport-the "sport of fitness."
We've learned that harnessing the natural camaraderie, competition, and fun of sport or game yields an intensity that cannot be matched by other means.
I used a #12 wall ball, so I guess that's a PR for wall balls for that many reps with that weight, as well as for doing 150 pullups...I NEED to start kipping!!
Did Sat WOD-HSPU and L-Pullups.
2 abmats, went down to 1 on the last 4, have to start somewhere..
22:57 and 2 more open wounds on the hands. I swear, I look like I've wrested live animals with these hands right now or maybe just a pull-up bar...
Jody, I am so impressed that you can do that many single pull-ups. Jumping up and down off the bar 150 times takes true perseverance...and you do it quickly. Plus, you don't have mutilated bloody hands like the rest of us. Can't wait to see what crazy workout you come up with for tomorrow.
Thanks, Suzanne! It's always inspiring to get here in the AM, and watch you finish your workout. You ALWAYS hang in there! I don't know if I want to learn to kip, after seeing all of your hands...:(
I concur with Suzanne. Doing one and having to reset takes a lot of effort.
I think I am almost 100% on my hands, albeit, I have not done any pull ups since Angie. I am waiting for the day my hands will be acclimated and not tear when I attempt to do more than 20 pull ups.
You guys just reminded me that I had a dream last night in which I had a mad kip. Like on the back swing, I'd swing up so far that my chest was above the bar, and then pulling it in required no work whatsoever. It was great.
FYI: We are planning to go out this Saturday night to celebrate Mike G's birthday. We decided not to meet for dinner, just plain drinking fun. (but please eat beforehand, we don't want you passing out early in the night ;) So, not sure where or when exactly, so look for details to come later this week.
Hey guys, I can't make it in tonight, but you should make Mike do a birthday work-out, maybe his favorite, 400M lunges!!!
I forwarded you the info on the running cert this weekend but got a bounced email today from your crossfitatlanta.net address. If you'll send me an email at steve @ steveco.org, I'll reply with the info.
Mike - happy birthday, welcome to the old man club..
I will be in Chicago this Sat so I will miss the b-day celebration, But I will make sure someone forces you to do some shots for me. Vas and I are still bitter about the hungover Fran.
Happy Birthday, Mike! Amy's right...400m lunges sounds like the PERFECT birthday workout...haha.
So, two days ago was the first anniversary of my first time at CFATL. I don't think I'll ever forget that night when I walked into the gym by myself. All I remember was a bunch of sweaty guys crowded around a guy with a bunch of crazy tattoos on his arms who was on a rower with a mask on his face that was hooked up to a computer. I was slightly freaked out to be honest, but I kept going back for some reason! Anyway, even though I can't keep up the workouts like I used to when I'm on the ship, I'm still in much better shape than I ever was a year ago. I don't know when I'll ever make it back to ATL, but I still like to consider myself part of the community!
Happy Birthday Mike! I didn't know it was today! Maybe you can do hung over Fran on Sunday as your B-Day workout. Sara and I will be out of town this weekend so we won't be able to make it out with you all. We will make up for it another weekend!
Great job on Sunday's workout, Laura T.! :)
Found a "fun" workout on cf main site....
5 rounds....25 wall ball shots and 30 pullups...
