# Sit-ups are A bitch after push-ups. Not nearly as strong as I thought I would be.

Well the new pull-up standard slowed me down for sure today. I'm guessing by at least 8 minutes.

We had a great crew this morning. Everyone did a great job!

I found this while looking for a CrossFit in the Chicago area (where I'll be for 4 weeks when I start my job), and this should be the only promotional material ever needed to get women into CrossFit. She is one of the trainers/owners of CrossFit Fire, and this is her progress between Jan 1, 2008 and June 7, 2008.

I went to CF San Diego last night and did the deadlift/burpee workout from the games. I used 70kg and finished in 10:29...pretty rough. I practiced some pull-ups with the new standard, and boy is it rough hitting my chest on the bar. Today's WOD will be interesting.
Congrats to Mike, Tommy, and Ian on your performance at the Games (esp. Mike with the 20th place)!

As Rx 27:21
Anchored AbMat Situps. Pull Up bar only about 7' tall, no good kip!! Still a 3:28 PR
Great Vid on HQ if you all haven't seen it!!

35:11 this morning on Angie. Flew through the first 60 pull-ups, and then ripped both of my hands wide open. Brent taped me up, but it took me another 10 minutes to finish up the last 40. I was trying to swing from my fingers and could only do 1 or 2 at a time.
Everything after that was cake (most likely because I did push-ups from my knees).

Miss you., Damon and Laura! I'll come by and check out the new place...
Roy, it was a pleasure...great watching all you guys workout...."Cindy" is a brutal workout, especiallly your first time around. Come back soon!
Great job as usual, AM crew! Great to hear from you, Ruthie! :)
I did "Angie"...first time doing 100 unassisted pullups, one at a time! After reading/seeing all of the ripped hands, maybe I don't want to learn how to kip...LOL! ;)
100 knee pushups, and 50 abmat situps with 50 g-h situps (not recommended!), and 100 squats...37:33

Big Mike...congrats on your Crossfit Challenge results. Count me in for 2009 and look forward to seeing you again soon. You're a rockstar man...still trying to keep up with the monster!

Mike! Congratulations on a great performance at the games!

Mike - awesome job on a top 20 finish. Extremely impressive, especially considering some of the people you beat out. Wish i could have been there...
Sean - I saw you beat me on the C+J workout. Nice work! Dammit! Now I have to do it again.
Yesterday: 30 155# C+J, 5:44
This one felt different than Grace since lower back gave out first because of the required squat. This stopped me from my typical "muscle up" approach when tired. Great workout to practice squat cleans though.

Skittles?

Angie results (first time doing the full 100 each): 43:45 (or something like that, stopwatch conked out). And 3 ripped open callouses.
Hint: Don't put bactine on those ripped hands. I believe I broke windows I screamed so loud.

For blisters and torn callus, using hydrogen peroxide is not as painful. Once they are clean with that, I use blister band aids (tip from Jamie) and that helps.
I will put on athletic tape on top of the blister band aid when I work out.

CVS and Walgreens has their own brand which is cheaper, 2 different shapes

Did Angie with anchored sit-ups. Otherwise, as Rx'd (no, I did not follow the new standards for pull-ups). Time was 20:42, which is a PR by almost two minutes.
Jody, great work on doing Angie with unassisted pull-ups! That is a great accomplishment and some remarkable progress.
Posted by: David Hodges | July 08, 2008 at 04:49 PM
No problem Roy!!! That was a lot of fun. I hope all the guys recover OK and I hope some of them come to see us more often!
What's with all of this anchoring on situps? That is NOT ALLOWED!

Brent, I don't own an Ab-Matâ„¢ or a GHD machine. What am I supposed to do?
Posted by: David Hodges | July 08, 2008 at 05:12 PM
Yo Mikey nice job again man. I'm proud of you. You did awesome, really. Can't wait for next year. I'm going to work hard to hopefully keep up with you. Hope to see you soon.

Before the Double Under, the High-Rep C&J was my forte. Now that my back is back, I have big plans. First and foremost, I need to take out Jason B's CF TOTAL. Secondly, I need to stay healthy.....

26:11 Rx for Angie.
Got at least my collar bone over the bar on each pull up, didn't touch on every one though. Still a 6 min PR (I guess I sucked a lot back in March...because those pull ups are A LOT harder)...and with GOOD push ups.
