"Since joining Crossfit 4 months ago, my life has improved dramatically. I have experienced mental, physical and spiritual gains I didn't think possible. I am a competitive horse back rider and my fitness level has me winning events like never before. Hell even my memory has improved. I can't just be imagining all of this because, my husband cannot get his hands off my new improved ass and our sex life is going through the roof, just like when we met 20 years ago!!!!!"
Captain Roy Reynolds, Fulton County Marshals Office, Special Operations Division
While I've always worked out with weights and ran I had no idea what conditioning was until I strolled into Crossfitatlanta. After less than a year I've increased my Cindy rounds from 8 to 19 and my Angie time is down from 60 min to 30. Best of all is the benefits I've gotten on my job. I run the Special Ops Division at my agency mostly working high risk warrants. I used to gas out quickly and would end up cheering my guys on as I got left behind. Since Crossfit I'm actually staying with the pack! Just the other day myself and a trainee ran a young burglar about a half mile.My trainee was surprised to see me, thinking I had fallen out of the chase. Best feeling I've had in awhile seeing that look on his face. I'm 46 years old and 265 and I have a Crossfit addiction.

As a certified fitness instructor & avid runner, I wasn't keen on the idea of adding Olympic style weightlifting to my daily workouts. I have an athletic figure and was already in good shape, so I just knew I would bulk up, gain weight and add precious seconds (or worse!) to my 5k PR time. That was three months ago, and with the help of CrossFit Atlanta, I am not only in the best & strongest shape of my life, but I've actually dropped a few pounds, haven't bulked up, and haven't lost any running speed, either. I have more definition in my arms & legs and after years of training, finally broke through that plateau to where I can climb a rope, do unassisted pull-ups and see my 4-pack abs! You & your staff made the transition to weights so easy & seamless and much less intimidating than the meat-heads at the gym. What I love is the "super-strong-and-fit" and the "haven't-worked-out-in-ages" can work along side each other, have fun and both get unbelievable workouts & results. Thanks Dan & CF Atlanta!

"In December 2005, while at a Christmas party, I took a picture sitting on Santa's lap. The only problem was it was hard to tell who was Santa! I simply could not believe how HUGE I looked in that picture. I was horrified so I decided to do something about it. In addition to the weight problems (I then weighed more than I did with either of my two pregnancies), I was also experiencing the joys of menopause. Anxiety, depression, anger, you name it and I had it and it was driving my family crazy!
New Year rolled around and I resolved to lose weight and get fit...only problem was it was so hard to do. As an executive for an Atlanta based software company, I seemed to always be too busy and could not get myself going. When I was in my early 20's and 30's I used to run a lot and do aerobics. Then life seemed to get in the way...just like it was in early 2005.
During an executive off-site meeting, my CEO mentioned he had a friend who had just been certified as a CrossFit trainer and was looking for students. This trainer also worked for our company. I called him on the way back from that meeting determined that I was going to "hire a trainer" and get into shape. I'll never forget that first phone call when the trainer - Frank Faulk - was telling me about CrossFit. I said great, when I get home, I'll just go to the Web site to check it out. He screamed - "No, don't go the web site, just come to the gym." Of course, I went to the web site and was I surprised and a little concerned. It looked like this "CrossFit" thing was just for macho men in the military! But, I went to the gym the next day and met with Frank.
I instantly "got" CrossFit. The idea that you train across all fitness disciplines, the idea that endless variety is the key and the idea that it's all about form just made sense to me. I am also a very competitive person and I found the CrossFit regime challenging on a personal level. AND, it's fun!
My first CrossFit session was in May 2006. I was so unfit, the 30 minute warm up that Frank gave me to do WAS my major work out. I could not do a single pushup, I could not do a handstand, I could not jump rope, I could not do a pull-up, and I knew nothing about weight lifting nor could I lift very much. But I began to see results immediately with CrossFit. Seven months later, I had dropped 4 sizes. I began the program as a size 16 and I am now a 10, moving to an 8. But besides looking better, it's my physical fitness that is the most improved and my life has changed dramatically as a result. My menopause symptoms are sharply reduced, I no longer huff and puff walking up stairs, my mental acuity is sharpened and I have been a role model for many people in this process. I am stronger, fitter, leaner and happier. The quality of my life is so different than a year ago and it is all because of CrossFit.
I'll be 50 years old on my next birthday and my goal is to be in the best physical condition of my life. I am working with great people at CrossFit - Dan MacDougald, Frank Faulk and Russ Thornton - and I expect to be ripped by the time I am 50.
I also do it because many people I know my age are now experiencing many health problems. We have a quote on the board at our CrossFit gym that motivates me every day:
-"We do today what others won't, so we can do tomorrow what others can't."
Thank you CrossFit."

"The guys at Crossfit Atlanta are great! Dan makes everyone feel welcome and un-intimidated. I am a certified personal trainer and run boot camp classes in Atlanta. Working out hard is not a strange concept to me. However, many of the Crossfit methods were. Since I started Crossfit 3 months ago, I have busted through nearly every plateau that I had. To give an example about the strength I have gained- I have gone from being able to do around 5-7 pull ups in a single set to over 20 pull ups in a single set. The Crossfit training has also made a HUGE difference in my endurance level and performance in my other athletic activities. Folks- look no further. This is the real deal."
Eva Twardokens age 40
Eva is a CrossFit trainer at CrossFit Santa Cruz, and a former member of the US Olympic Ski Team:
"In the last few years I have skied less than 20 days a year. I end up racing in a couple races a year against my peers and some people pretty fresh of the FIS circuit. People are pretty amazed when they find out how many days I have skied...usually at that point less than 10, and how well I compete against these gals who are off the circuit and living at a ski area. I give them a run for their money and sometimes even beat them. I prepare by doing CrossFit. Skiing is my Specific Skills Preparation. Sure I have the skills of skiing burned into my mind from childhood... . It is funny, when I was on the US team they paid for my private gymnastic sessions ...had us O-lift ...and do interval training on the track or on a bike....sounds a lot like aaaaaahhhh....CrossFit? Don't waste too much time on the details...what you need in my opinion is right in front of your face! I wish I had this program when I was training for the Olympics."
Ron Harris
Ron is an Atlanta businessman who played linebacker in college for Miami University in the early 1980s. He is also a youth football coach:
"I love CrossFit! Its hell, but the results are heavenly! I’m 43 years old and weighed 232 lbs. before starting CrossFit six weeks ago. I’m now 218 lbs. and my strength rivals my college football playing days 22 years ago. Best of all, I’m in shape and look it! I can’t wait to see the results a year from now!
I will definitely introduce the CrossFit philosophy and workout regimen into our football players’ exercise and workout requirements. The CrossFit movements and exercise routines, in my opinion, are an excellent conditioning and power routine that compliment the strength and explosion movements required of football. Man, I wish we would have had CrossFit back when I played at Miami, as opposed to the traditional “high intensity” workouts of the late 70s and 80s.
In summary, I recommend CrossFit for any team sport that requires conditioning, explosion, and/or high intensity strength movements."
Carrie Beauchamp
Carrie is a grammar school PE teacher in Griffin, GA:
"CrossFit has taught me so much about myself. I thought I was in shape. Now I know how out of shape I really was. The roll of fat under my belly button that I thought I could never lose is smaller, my thighs that used to jiggle are rock hard, and my body just feels tighter. All the running, cycling, and swimming in the world has never done this for me. I attribute it to CrossFit and the Zone. The first month was hard for me because I felt like I needed to run and bike more. My husband convinced me to dedicate myself to it for two months to see what happened. All I have to say is I am amazed at the results I have had and there is no turning back to what I was doing before."
Jody Goldfine, aged 43, from Atlanta:
"In my 16 years of exercising, CrossFit has been the most effective way for me to workout. I used to spend DOUBLE the amount of time performing my exercise routine, before I found CrossFit. My stamina has NEVER been as high, and I've NEVER been as toned! After executing a CrossFit workout, I feel a genuine sense of accomplishment. CrossFit has been both physically and psychologically empowering to me."
Scott Parker, San Diego, CA
"I am not new to CrossFit, and have been following the WOD for the last three years, but have been doing so completely on my own and have been working out in regular gyms, which meant i had to do a lot of improvising,, substituting, and leave out certain exercises/movements because it either wasn't possible or i didn't know how to do the movement properly. well, all that has changed!
I moved to san diego less than a week ago and one of the first things i did was go to CrossFit san diego and started the instructional/technique classes, and did my first WOD today. it was amazing to actually have someone there showing you how to do all the movements correctly. i quickly realized that i have been doing a lot of the movements wrong, or at the very least not as efficient as i could be doing them, and i have been waiting three years to actually be able to train at a place where they have everything that you need and instead of people looking at you like you are a freak you are supported! all i have to say is even if you think you know how to do these movements i highly recommend at the very least checking out a facility if you are lucky enough to have one in your area. in just the two days i have been there i swear i have learned more on proper movement and technique that i have in the last three years! and i also did my first muscle up on rings today! i have never had rings at any of the gyms i had trained at before and always did them on a straight bar. It's pretty sweet to be in such a supportive environment and this is just the thing i needed to get motivated and get back into Crossfit."
